Egg drop sandwich: where to find the Korean toast in Vienna

Egg

The Korean breakfast sandwich combines buttery brioche bread with scrambled eggs and various toppings such as cheese, bacon and avocado.

The egg drop sandwich is the latest food trend to spill over from Korea to Europe and is also causing a sensation in Vienna. With its fluffy, slightly sweet brioche, creamy scrambled eggs and a variety of delicious toppings, it is a real taste sensation that should not be missed. In the last few weeks, three new restaurants have opened in the austrian capital offering the Korean breakfast sandwich – which can undoubtedly be enjoyed at any time of day.

Choi

At Choi you can find the popular sandwich in six different variations. In addition to classic variations such as ham & cheese, there is also a version with bulgogi, which is a very well-known meat from Korean cuisine, as well as with tofu or shrimp. Another great specialty is the version with crispy spam, which is probably also rather unknown in this country. Spam, which is very common in Korea, is minced, cured, pressed and seasoned pork cooked in its own juices, which is usually sold in cans. Choi also offers a large selection of hot and cold coffee variations as well as matcha and lemonades.

There are three toasts to choose from: classic with egg, pesto, avocado, rocket, cheese and a sweet mayo sauce, mediterranean with egg, hummus, rocket, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, cheddar cheese and sweet mayo sauce and crispy sucuk with egg, oriental tomato paste, sucuk, cheddar cheese and a spicy mayo sauce. In addition to the egg drop sandwiches, you will also find various brioche toasts, vegetarian toasts and sweet toasts – including with Nutella, matcha or fresh berries.
