Tenute Lunelli - Tenuta Castelbuono

Falstaff Wine Guide Italy 2024

Fascinated by an ancient and almost mystical land like Umbria and by a wine as powerful as Sagrantino, the Lunelli family acquired Tenuta Castelbuono, 30 hectares of vineyards in Bevagna and Montefalco, in 2001. The pioneers, who have been at the helm of Cantine Ferrari for generations, wanted to produce still wines here that matched the excellence of the sparkling wines from Trentino. The Montefalco Sagrantino was launched in 2003, followed a year later by the Montefalco Rosso. In 2012, the new wine cellar was put into operation, and in 2014 they switched to organic cultivation.
