Veuve Clicquot Unveils La Grande Dame Rosé 2018
With Veuve Clicquot’s new “La Grande Dame Rosé 2018,” the Champagne house celebrates 200 years of an innovation that changed rosé Champagne forever — while paying tribute to the visionary spirit of Madame Clicquot.
Veuve Clicquot unveils “La Grande Dame Rosé 2018,” a prestige cuvée inspired by the pioneering vision of Madame Clicquot, the woman affectionately known as “La Grande Dame de la Champagne.” In 1818, she broke with convention by blending carefully selected red wines from Bouzy with white wine, creating what is considered the first known blended rosé Champagne.
The 2018 vintage marks the 200th anniversary of this groundbreaking approach and represents only the 11th release of La Grande Dame Rosé since its introduction in 1988 — underscoring both the rarity and uncompromising standards of the cuvée, which is produced exclusively in exceptional Pinot Noir vintages.
A Legacy Rooted in Pinot Noir
For more than two centuries, Veuve Clicquot has cultivated its signature “L’Art du Pinot Noir,” a philosophy deeply connected to the complexity, elegance and structure of the grape variety. The cuvée is composed primarily of Pinot Noir from the historic vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, complemented by Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs, which brings freshness, finesse and delicate minerality.
