The comprehensive international study analyzes hundreds of cities worldwide, highlighting those that stand out through balance, innovation, and high quality of life. From more than 3,400 cities, around 1,000 were initially selected for detailed analysis, based on a standardized system of 64 indicators designed to ensure reliable and comparable results. Ultimately, 251 cities were included in the current edition, drawing on approximately 150,000 data sets and the work of 466 researchers.
At the core of the ranking are six key factors: citizens’ quality of life, governance, environment, economy, health, and mobility. The top 50 cities form the so-called “Gold” group, representing exemplary models of balanced, sustainable, and livable urban development.
