The Plümecke is not in Hanover, but Hanover outside the Plümecke, say the regulars: this quaint pub has been around since 1900. Well-known politicians used to come here to enjoy currywurst, chicken, meatballs and beer.
A long-established pub close to the city centre, where people like to drink beer and eat good home cooking: sausages on sauerkraut, schnitzel with fried potatoes, meat loaf with fried eggs. The giant pork knuckle with boiled potatoes and sauerkraut is famous - order it with mashed peas!
Panea's idea is as simple as it is delicious: good bread with something on it. Butter or jam. Fried eggs or scrambled eggs with chives. As a "Strammer Max" or Spanish version with olives, tomato salsa and Serrano ham. Please note: the place is always packed.
There are also burgers and currywurst in this gastronomic gazebo in the middle of allotments, but one of the chef's BBQ dishes is actually a must: spare ribs or pulled pork. Those who can, eat tapas beforehand: Camembert Diavolo, Bacon Cheese Bomb or Bunt Ends.
In their branch in Hanover's city centre, the Digwa brothers serve home-brewed beers of wonderful originality, including the original Hanoverian beer Broyhan. The hearty dishes with all kinds of ingredients from the region are delicious: burgers, steaks or snack plates.
A constantly busy restaurant with a good reputation. Most of the home-style dishes are freshly prepared and the restaurant tries to meet the demand for regionality and sustainability. Open daily, which is why the quality varies from time to time.
This is one of the oldest houses on the square, the foundations of which are said to date back to the 14th century. If you stop off here, you can drink draught beer, eat Eichsfelder Stracke, Harzer Roller or onion sour meat with fried potatoes - and soak up the history.
