Street Food Guide Germany 2024: The Best Levantine Street Food in Cologne
A project close to the heart with Israeli-German roots. After a long street food festival and pop-up dalliance, fresh food has been cooked here every day since 2017. Especially good is the hummus of the week. Classics such as sabich, halloumi and shakshuka are of course also available.
A convincing overall package of very good - and very fresh - oriental-Afghan cuisine, a cosy feel-good atmosphere and authentic warmth. In summer, you can sit on the street terrace in front of the Eigensteintorburg with a bikini Negroni in your hand.
Eat like an emperor in the morning, like a falafel king at lunchtime - namely Lebanese and Turkish delicacies such as crispy fried chickpea balls, hummus, tabbouleh and börek. The specialty snack bar is also known for its excellent shawarma.
Cologne without Habibi is possible, but pointless. Since 1997, the restaurant has been serving fairly priced, simple Arabic dishes with no frills. The overall package of gastronomic delights and cult status also includes art: the ceiling and walls are wallpapered with countless film and music posters.
The oriental snack bar in the old town offers a variety of authentic dishes from lunchtime to evening. Particularly recommended: the Beirut plate with ten different, freshly prepared starters and the spicy Lebanese-style potatoes.
For the last 15 years, you have been able to enjoy hummus, baba ghanoush or feta cheese wrapped in puff pastry at Lenauplatz. It's best to order everything at once: the Lebanese starter mix, for example, or the grill plate with lamb, chicken, kebab, roast vegetables and rice.
A different kind of barbecue - with vegetarian options such as falafel or halloumi sandwiches. The broilers rotating on the spit are given an exotic touch with a Syrian marinade, accompanied by chips, but also basmati rice with peas, fresh flatbread and salad.
Israeli street-food restaurant with many vegan options. With seven different variations of hummus, numerous authentic snacks, a variety of stuffed pita breads, spicy salads and fruity shakshuka, the choice is anything but easy.
