When the doors open, The Harp fills up, because the burger variations - from "Texas Chainsaw" to "Crystal Mett" - have everything burgers need: a mouthful of umami. Plus dozens of types of beer and hard-hitting music. The whole package is city cult.
Crunchy buns, crispy patties, mustard, ketchup and caramelised onions - that's it! The smashed burgers, which are available here in classic and ham and cheeseburger versions, focus on the taste of the meat. A highlight is the cheese sauce in which guests dip the burgers.
At Butjer, you'll find full, grilled smashed burgers wrapped in excellent buns from a local pastry shop. The sauces are homemade, as are the pickles. The calorie happiness is perfected by all kinds of loaded fries. Also good is the fish & chips.
With homemade sauces (including ketchup), soft-crispy buns and patties made from local meat, the burgers on offer here are among the best in the city. The "Forrest Gump" with bacon and peanut butter is exciting, or "Ramses" with fig confit, goat's cheese and thyme honey.
The "Classic Burger" alone offers the ideal burger feeling. However, KUHnstWERK also offers extra cheese, mountains of meat, pea or pumpkin chia meatballs between the bun halves. Completely "unburger-like", but outrageously delicious is the pastrami sandwich.
Buns and minced meat come from the local baker and butcher. The sausages are home-made, the greens are fresh and good. A nice change: in addition to classic variations, there are also seasonal delicacies, such as with red cabbage, nuts and pear or with camembert and strawberry salsa.
Brudis is a mix of kebab stand and burger joint. The popular snacks are prepared with consistent quality. Side dishes include onion rings, mozzarella sticks and chili cheese nuggets. For vegetarians, there are kebab variations with halloumi or falafel.
The burger options - from "Take it Cheesy" to "Dancing with the Bull" - or the salads - from "Oh my Goat" to "Schröder Head Salad" - are good. But if it's on offer, the local crowd will order the tender ribs cooked for six hours - until they're done.
Rapper Haftbefehl's restaurant claims to serve "100% organic and halal meat", which is fried medium. If you want, you can order your burger with mushrooms, carpaccio or sucuk, but the "Classic Burger" with cheese and bacon has everything a burger needs.
On our last visit, the burgers seemed a little out of balance, at least in terms of the ratio of patty (too little) to bun (too much). The sauces also felt like they were applied with a ladle. Perhaps it was the form of the day, because the offer here is solid in and of itself.
