Munich's most popular noodle maker: while you wait, you can watch the Chinese noodles being pulled by hand. Things are then very unpretentious inside. The pasta is tossed with tender beef or minced chicken in a tasty (spicy if desired) broth.

Sendlinger-Tor Platz 10, 80336 Munich, Germany

Probably the best Vietnamese soups in Munich. In this small restaurant with an open kitchen (and no toilet!), insiders demand the special menu, for example with original bun bo hué including coagulated pork blood. Classic phở, bún chả and co are also excellent.

Ohmstraße 12, 80539 Munich, Germany

If you have a hankering for Thailand, you are in good hands here between street food trolleys, colourful furniture and the typical plastic chairs. The food selection is very large and offers one or two dishes that are otherwise hard to find here. Authentic and cool.

Atelierstraße 14, 81671 Munich, Germany

Munich's first port of call for excellent bánh mì. Crispy and available in different variations: from classic paté to BBQ pork or vegan. The hot dishes such as soups and the crispy Vietnamese pancakes Bánh xèo are just as good.

Theresienstraße 79, 80333 Munich, Germany

A classic opposite the Gasteig: this snack bar, which opened in 2009, only has a few tables and is always lively. The food is authentic and first-class, so it's worth the wait. The soups and salads are particularly good. Caution: "spicy" here means damn spicy.

Rosenheimerstr 34, 81669 Munich, Germany

Immerse yourself in a colourful K-pop world in this modern restaurant. There are Korean classics, especially fried chicken, but also Korean pancakes, bibimbap and tteokbokki. The portions are very large - it's worth ordering together and sharing.

Luisenstr 47, 80333 Munich, Germany

Anyone looking for authentic dumplings and soups will find what they are looking for at Yi Da Wan. Chinese soul food is served in a simple atmosphere. The wangtan soup, for example, is really good - the noodle dishes are also worth ordering.

Rosenheimer Str 32, 81669 Munich, Germany

The small snack bar near the Viktualienmarkt is a good place to stop for lunch and to warm up. Classic Vietnamese soups simmer in large pots. There are also a few other dishes on the menu: baked wontons, for example.

Westenriederstraße 8, 80331 Munich, Germany

An integral part of the university quarter since 1997. Here you can try good quality bulgogi, spicy pork belly, kimchi jjigge and other specialties at fair prices - and enjoy the lively atmosphere in the simply furnished restaurant.

Amalienstraße 51, 80799 Munich, Germany

Both the surroundings and the restaurant itself are not exactly attractive. But the taste of what comes out of the small kitchen is excellent. Tip: Pad Kra Pao and the Pad Wunsen. In summer, you can sit outside under a porch.

Dachauer Str 20, 80335 Munich, Germany
