Brandenburg

Since 2007, the vineyards belong to the approved wine region of Brandenburg. The vineyard area currently covers about 30 hectares. The vineyards are located in the southern parts of the state and in Werder. The climatically favourable warm islands and the Märkische sun make wine production in this area possible. The quality of the grapes and the wines is constantly increasing. There are about 20 different grape varieties planted, in addition to the well known varieties such as Müller-Thurgau, Riesling, Ruländer, Sauvignon Blanc, many fungus resistant white grape varieties - PIWI for short - such as Johanniter, Solaris, Helios, Schönburger, Muscaris and Saphira are planted. Among the red grape varieties, Regent is the most widely planted grape variety in Brandburg, while Dornfelder and Cabernet Dorsa round out the red grape varieties. The wine growing associations promote and revive viticulture in the region. The long tradition of viticulture is evident from place names such as "Weinberg" or from street names such as "Am Weinberg", "Weinbergsweg" or "Weinmeisterstraße".
