Shepherd Neame, the historic brewery from Faversham near London, partners with Balfour Winery to unveil its debut collection of English wines.

Balfour Winery in Kent is one of the best wine destinations in the world, according to World's Best Vineyards. The same county in the south-east of England is home to Shepherd Neame, the oldest brewery in the UK. Together, the two family businesses have now created their wine collection called English Garden. This is the first time that Shepherd Neame has launched its own English wine.

“This is a really exciting time for English viticulture, particularly in Kent, which is becoming known as the vineyard of England, as more and more vineyards are planted in the county. We have been delighted to work with Shepherd Neame on this exciting project to raise the profile of Kent wines and we are incredibly proud of the finished result,” said Balfour's cellar master Fergus Elias.

The new line includes a white wine and a rosé made from grapes grown in Kent: in keeping with the name, the English Garden White Bacchus is said to have aromas of rose and elderflower, as well as citrus notes and a hint of apple. The English Garden Rosé with its pale pink colour is also said to have aromas of rose petals, paired with ripe summer strawberries and raspberries.

We are delighted that this special partnership has come about and we look forward to our customers enjoying our beautiful and elegant English Garden wine,” said Michael Prior, Wines and Spirits Manager.
