The Kaskis phenomena is a great little restaurant - the pride of Turku. Kaskis has been full for 10 years and Erik Mansikka (kitchen) and Simo Raisio (hall) are still on fire. Game, fish, wild herbs, mushrooms and berries; textures, tastes, delicacy and fun create the new Finnish fun & fine dining.
Smör, located in the cellar on the banks of the Turku River, is 15 years old. The evolution is taken care of by chef Mikko Pakola. The drive comes from the Nordic purity of flavours and the local food ethos. Their own garden and producers provide the best ingredients to which the wines are matched.
Located in the notorious former Kakola prison, the restaurant is inspired by the seasons, local ingredients and Nordic style with open fire grills. The result is brutal, but the flavours are deep, backed up by insightful staff, wines and cocktails, and craft beers from a neighbouring brewery.
Mami is one of the pioneers of chef-driven bistro dining in Finland. Food is made trend-free according to its own playbook. Local ingredients are respected and the Nordic-Italian-French cooking is unpretentious, which is Mami's hallmark, not forgetting Asia. The wines have the same directness.
E.Ekblom is a Finnish bistro that serves rustic and even nostalgic food at reasonable prices in a basement cave on the banks of the Aura River. Janne's Pot Menu changes weekly, but you can go here for a glass of down-to-earth and inspiring wine, a tapas plate and a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
Located in the city centre, casual Karu is inspired by Asian Japanese food, with a respect for tradition and a modern twist, including sushi and sashimi. Served in Izakaya, dining is social warmth.
Tintå is a pioneer of wine bars in Finland. The food takes its cues from Spain and Italy, but is curious in many directions. The wine list, too, has gathered rooted and characterful wines from all over. The staff create a homely atmosphere, and the terrace by the river is one of the best in town.
Located on Turku's Market Square, Agnes offers a Scandinavian brasserie style for lunch and dinner. Through the large windows of the Palviljong you can sense the life of the square. The northern style is also reflected in the interior design. The wine list is classic, as are the champagnes.
A modern building with a Nordic aesthetic serves Scandinavian cuisine. Nooa is located on the banks of the Aura River, next to the guest marina. Large windows and a roof terrace show the life of the river. Seasonal menus and wine packages are available. There are also wines for demanding tastes.
The Roster is next door to the Turku Cathedral. Roster is a casual, international-style restaurant that takes inspiration from the tastes of the world and recreates the classics. A plus is the Chef's Table, located near the open kitchen. The wines are international and available by the glass.
In Tenlén on Ruissalo Island, the aroma of wood and tar from the old boatyard, smokehouse and grill combine with Low and Slow-style American slow-smoked BBQ food. An extensive wine list is selected with an innovative and forward-thinking approach to smoked meats, fish and veggies.
Kuori is the first vegetarian restaurant in Finland to launch à la carte dinners. Tasty, beautiful and innovative little dishes based on the street food concept are accompanied by European and natural wines. Some of Turku's best cocktails are also available vegan. No need to ask: Where´s the beef?
Hügge means a cosy atmosphere with a feeling of well-being and happiness. Hügge offers inventive vegetarian food with a rich flavour. Vegans are also catered for. Cocktails and mocktails are innovative and wines are inventively paired with the pure qualities of the ingredients and layered flavours.
450°C, which makes Neapolitan pizza, is located in both the Kauppahall and the Hansa Quarter. The pizza flour is from Naples and the dough takes 30-60 hours to develop. The pizzas are baked quickly in a 450°C oven over a live fire. The list includes classics, seasonal flavours and pizzas.
