Perfection is the goal of the Gager winery in Deutschkreutz, Burgenland. Like a square with four equal and perfect sides, the square being the operative word here, as it has been used on the labels of Gager wines since the very beginning. Everything is done to achieve this figuratively speaking square: perfection in wine. What began as a hobby for his parents in the 1980s is now being pursued by Horst Gager in the second generation, and the future seems secure, with son Jonas, a student at the Klosterneuburg School of Viticulture, already helping out in the family business.
With its exclusive red wine production, the Gager winery has already positioned itself as a red wine specialist far beyond Austria's borders. However, Gager does not have to look far when it comes to sourcing raw materials, as everything is close at hand - in the form of perfect grapes. And because of the winery's commitment to regionalism and conservation, it has already been certified as 'sustainable'.
The company currently cultivates 38 hectares of vineyards. A total of eight grape varieties are grown, including the main regional variety and the Gagers' signature grape: Blaufränkisch. In addition to the region's leading variety, Zweigelt, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot are also highlights. As well as their deep, dark colour, Gager wines are characterised by their compact structure and exceptional ageing potential - qualities that have earned them a long list of accolades.
